Video Highlights of a Traditional Wedding Ceremony

Adria and Sujeet | Hindu Wedding

This Hindu Wedding was a rich multi-cultural experience!  I’ll start with the first look.  Always fun right?

Already having a dress for her ceremony, she wanted a different look for this moment.  So she looked for something simple yet elegant.  The dress that she found is absolutely stunning!  Matching the intended style, Sujeet wore a black suit and bow tie.  The work that went into making it all happen on the wedding day was definitely worth his touching reaction!

Friends and family traveled from all over the world to enjoy this wedding weekend!  With an amazing view of Snow Canyon Entrada is one of the premiere wedding locations in Southern Utah.  Keeping his bride smiling the whole weekend – it was easy to see how much they adored each other.

The baraat is my favorite of the Hindu Wedding traditions.  It is most easily described as the Groom’s Parade with music and dancing.  The groom, along with his family and friends, travel to the ceremony in a procession.  I can’t think of a better way to get the energy going!

NP-Films-Hindu-Wedding-BaraatAt this Hindu Wedding I learned that vows written and shared by the couple is a perfect way to blend the cultures.  It also brought a very personal touch to the highlight as they expressed their commitment and love.

Erin and Chris . Red Rock Country Club

There is a tenderness about the first time the groom sees his bride to be in her dress, also known as the first look.  The groom can handle contain his excitement and love and often erupts in happiness demonstrated by uncontrollable smiling!  His face shows what his heart is feeling.  This truth is on perfect display when Chris’ sees Erin for the first time in her wedding dress.  This video is a personal and heartfelt compilation of their love and celebration, which was quite spectacular, at the the Red Rock Country Club.  Making my task of capturing their day easier was working with their photographer Jimmy of Gideon Photo.

Laguna Gloria Austin Texas

Austin is rich in culture.  No wonder I fell in love on my first visit there!

In preparation for the wedding I decided to take in the city of Austin.  This meant making a stop at the Violet Crown Cinema.  In this modern theater I enjoyed for the first time one of my favorite movies of 2014, The Grand Budapest Hotel.  (Here is my review on the film)  Afterwards I wondered the streets soaking it all in!  Having only a few hours I cannot imagine that I even scratched the surface.  However, it was just enough to understand the diversity and personality of Austin.

Before shooting Amanda’s wedding, I had the pleasure of shooting both her sisters and her friends wedding videos.  I’m sure thats why I was so excited to finally be shooting Amanda and Matt’s wedding day!  Still, I did not neglect my usual preparation of learning more about the couple.  This is primarily done using Spotify. We collaborate on a playlist that involves sharing music that both the bride and groom love.  Listening to songs they love is extremely helpful.  It not only helps me in getting to know the couple better, but serves as inspiration when shooting and editing.  When reviewing their playlist I was pleasantly surprised.  I found artists like the Black Keys, B.o.B., Lorde, Electric Guest, and more.  Listening to this distinct group of songs I imagined an upbeat and high energy event.  I definitely was not disappointed!

There were many surprises and unique performances.  One of which was a rock and roll solo by the bride’s father.  His solo was dedicated to the happy couple.  It complimented the unique style first perceived from their playlist.

The ceremony took place at the Laguna Gloria Austin Texas located at The Contemporary Austin.  The venue perfectly contrasted with that unique style.  With just enough beauty and elegance – I found it to be just enough to keep the traditionalists very happy.

Mariah and Tom . SL Country Club

I love the variety of high quality local venues here in Utah!  One of those high quality venues, tucked away on the east side of Salt Lake, is the prestigious Salt Lake Country Club.  Mariah and Tom were a simple, stylish, and madly in love couple.  Such a great time shooting this – I really enjoyed the laid back feel of the overall celebration.  Also, I must make mention of how much I appreciated working with David Newkirk.  It is always refreshing to work with him as he is dedicated to capturing what is real and genuine.

Ashley and Brian . Sonoma Wedding

Welcoming their guests at the worst, a local sausage, hamburger, and shake restaurant the laid-back tone of this wedding was set right away.  Their colorful ceremony took place at the Quivira Vineyards in Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma County, was decorated meticulously by When Pigs Fly Events which decoration included some of the most incredible floral arrangements I have ever seen!  Once the ceremony, dinner, and toasts concluded the guests were whisked away by trolley to party out the rest of the night at a local art gallery.  Thank you to Jimmy of Gideon Photography who always makes my job easy as we work together to capture the events of the day.

Dan and Kate . Country Wedding

The backdrop was a family ranch in Peoa, which is near Park City, this wedding had so many incredible simple touches that made this celebration very unique.  Coordinated and designed by the talented Donna Urban Events.  Dan and Kate’s wedding was a party from start to finish.  Such a pleasure to be there to document it!  Check out their video also featured in the Fall/Summer 2014 Issue of the Salt Lake Bride and Groom Magazine!  Featuring some of the beautiful imagery captured by Melissa Kelsey Photography.

Ben and Courtney . St Regis Deer Valley

Ben wiped tears of joy from his face the first time he saw his gorgeous bride Courtney and I’m so honored to say that I was there to document this.  I had a smile on my face almost the entire time!  Their photographer Alix was a pleasure to work with and took some stunning images as well!  And even though the St Regis Resort in Deer Valley is surprisingly close to Salt Lake it’s stunning scenery is always breathtaking and was the perfect place for this couples wedding.

Louie and Steph . Charleston

One of my favorite weddings of the year!  Louie and Stephanie showed Charleston what a beach party wedding looks like!  Held at a beach house located on Folly Beach this destination wedding was unforgettable from start to finish.  What a fortunate opportunity it was for me to travel out to this amazing area with Gideon Photography (see the date video of Stephanie and Louie we shot together last fall) to preserve the memory of this day.  Capped of with a recent feature on Charleston Wedding Magazine was the ultimate compliment to these two and their wedding celebration!
